Baseball Game Preview: University Trojans vs. Canyon Comanches

The University Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the Canyon Comanches at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday. University's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Canyon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

University came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-3 to San Dimas.

University saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Collins, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon). They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over El Modena on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Comanches considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Kyle Mills was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Kyle Nulph was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. University's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
