Softball Recap: Citronelle Wildcats vs. Mary G. Montgomery Vikings
Citronelle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mary G. Montgomery Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 back in March.
Jodee Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Blaklee Holliman was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Dickinson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Citronelle's record is now 3-16. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Citronelle will venture away from home to face off against St. Paul's Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mary G. Montgomery, they will head out to take on Theodore at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
