Volleyball Recap: Haverhill Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Olivia Lesswing and Callan Goncalves

Haverhill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Central Catholic Raiders. The Hillies were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-12, 22-25, 25-21.

Callan Goncalves and Olivia Lesswing certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Goncalves had 22 digs and three aces, while Lesswing had 12 digs and two aces. Lesswing is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Mistretta, who had 13 digs.

Mia Romansik was nothing short of spectacular for Central Catholic: she had 22 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Romansik has posted since back in September of 2024. Alexia Faria was another key player, getting 16 digs and one assist.

Haverhill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Haverhill is set to take on their familiar foe Methuen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Central Catholic will face off against rival Andover at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
