Football Recap: Armani White Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hueytown + How To Watch

Central hadn't done well against Hueytown recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Falcons took down the Golden Gophers 37-21. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 28-17 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armani White, who rushed for 63 yards and one score on only five carries, and also threw for 152 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes. That's the most rushing yards White has posted since back in August of 2024. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Anthony Dixon, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Jackson Carlisle was the leader with two. Jasiuah Rainer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Central, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dixon, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points over those games. As for Hueytown, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hueytown, they will host Pinson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Gophers will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.11 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
