Baseball Game Preview: Spring Valley Vikings vs. Lugoff-Elgin Demons

For the second straight game, Spring Valley will face off against Lugoff-Elgin. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Demons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Spring Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lugoff-Elgin, sneaking past 4-3.

Jayden Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Spring Valley: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-12 otherwise.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Spring Valley is 3-1 when Jackson posts two or more runs, but 6-13 otherwise.

Spring Valley's record is now 9-14. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
