Football Recap: Lincolnton Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mountain Heritage

With a playoff win on the line, Lincolnton rose to the challenge on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 37-36 photo finish over the Mountain Heritage Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rashad Lynch produced another solid effort throwing for 222 yards and four TDs on only 19 passes, while also rushing for 88 yards.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Heritage lost, don't look at Cason Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 233 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Jones' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 109 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Brayden Deyton, who rushed for 112 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

The win (which was Lincolnton's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. As for Mountain Heritage, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Looking ahead, Lincolnton will be playing at home against West Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Lynch and Carson Correll. Mountain Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
