Softball Game Preview: Shaker Bison vs. Columbia Blue Devils

The Shaker Bison will square off against the Columbia Blue Devils at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Shaker 4, Columbia 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Shaker is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Niskayuna 16-2 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Silver Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Ruby Szemplinski was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abagael Taylor was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Shaker hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Niskayuna struck out eight times.

Meanwhile, Columbia unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Guilderland by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since April 17th.

Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Shaker, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
