Recap: Durant Cougars vs. Wharton Wildcats

After a string of five wins, the Durant Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 53-46 to Wharton. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Durant in their matchups with Wharton: they've now lost four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Durant lost, one person who can't be blamed is Austin White. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 47.8% of Durant's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Wylde Correa, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.

Wharton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Womack out in front who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Aj Jones was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.

Durant's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Wharton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Durant is on the road again on Friday and plays Blake at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Durant is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season. As for Wharton, they will head out on the road to square off against Leto at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Leto is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Wharton a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
