Basketball Game Preview: Luray Bulldogs vs. Central Woodstock Falcons

The Luray Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Central Woodstock Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Luray sitting on three straight wins and Central Woodstock on six.

Last Tuesday, Luray strolled past Page County with points to spare, taking the game 65-51.

Matthew Owens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.4% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Jenkins, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Central Woodstock didn't have too much trouble with Strasburg on Tuesday as they won 53-39. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Rams are ranked 228th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luray pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points over those games. As for Central Woodstock, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.

Luray came up short against Central Woodstock when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 53-47. Can Luray avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
