Softball Game Preview: Gainesville Leopards vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

Gainesville hasn't had much luck against Van Alstyne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Leopards will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Gainesville has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gainesville is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to Celina.

Meanwhile, Van Alstyne made easy work of Rockwall-Heath on Tuesday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Van Alstyne pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
