Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dougherty Valley). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Foothill Falcons 20-18. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Falcons are ranked 184th).

Kaitlyn Lohe produced another solid effort throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 109 yards on only 13 carries. Lauren Lohe was Kaitlyn's top target, picking up 106 receiving yards and one TD.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Dougherty Valley's defense and their three sacks. Skylar Fernandes was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself.

Dougherty Valley picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Foothill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Dougherty Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against James Logan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 14.2, the Colts 3.5) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Foothill, they will face off against Monte Vista on Saturday.
