Basketball Recap: Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Hannah Johnson and Nicole Njoroge

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Alchesay Falcons. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2015.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's loss on Saturday came despite strong showings from Nicole NJoroge and Hannah Johnson. NJoroge posted 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Johnson earned nine points in addition to six boards and four steals. NJoroge is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.

Even though they lost, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Leading Alchesay to victory were Lenea Lavender and Alyssa Jim. Lavender went 6 of 13 on her way to 14 points, while Jim put up 11 points and eight rebounds.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy's record is now 10-2. As for Alchesay, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-7.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-21 loss against Nogales on the 28th. As for Alchesay, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
