Hopewell got their first taste of in-conference action on Friday and they started things off strong. They blew past the Colonial Heights Colonials 33-6. Considering the Blue Devils' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Leading Hopewell to victory were AJ Monroe and Brian Moore. Monroe rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Moore rushed for 76 yards and one TD on only six carries. Moore's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
