JSerra Catholic and Mater Dei are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Lions will welcome the Monarchs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The last six games JSerra Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, JSerra Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Orange Lutheran and fell 2-1.

Liliana Escobar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Annabel Raftery was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei). Everything went their way against Santa Margarita on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Monarchs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

JSerra Catholic's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-13. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10-1 record this season.
