Softball Recap: Lovejoy Wildcats vs. Morrow Mustangs
Lovejoy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Morrow Mustangs with a sharp 17-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kye Gordon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks every time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
In other batting news, Kennedi Harley was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Jimison, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lovejoy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Lovejoy back to even at 3-3. As for Morrow, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Lovejoy will face off against McIntosh at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morrow, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Langston Hughes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
