Baseball Recap: Gateway Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Gateway's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They never let the Cypress Lake Panthers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The result came thanks to Sean Collins's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gateway saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devyn Vitiello, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Gateway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Gateway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cypress Lake, they will head out to square off against Clewiston at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
