Softball Recap: Barberton Comes Up Short

Barberton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 last Wednesday.

Cassie Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barberton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maia Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Barberton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Cuyahoga Falls, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15.

Coincidentally, Barberton and Cuyahoga Falls will both be playing Tallmadge the next time they take the field. The Magics will host the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Black Tigers will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
