Baseball Recap: Dexter Wins Going Away Against Oak Ridge

After only one run in their last game, Dexter made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oak Ridge on Tuesday. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Blue Jays with a sharp 15-1 win. Considering the Bearcats have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Trey Pedigo made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Dexter got a massive performance out of Justus Lovelady, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases. The Bearcats are undefeated when Lovelady posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Beau Carrier, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Dexter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Ridge only posted an OBP of .276.

Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Oak Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dexter will face off against Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Bearcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oak Ridge, they will take on East Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
