Basketball Recap: Hutto Takes a Loss

Hutto managed to keep up with Stony Point until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Hutto Hippos were outmatched by the Stony Point Tigers and fell 91-62. Even though they lost, the Hippos' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.6 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

When it comes to explaining why Hutto lost, don't look at Ronald Willis. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Cylin Tate was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Hutto was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Stony Point got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Courtney Ratliffe out in front who went 9 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Ratliffe a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uzziah Buntyn, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 22 points along with five assists and three steals.

Hutto has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Stony Point, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hutto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-46 defeat against Vandegrift on the 3rd. As for Stony Point, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 88-59 victory against Round Rock Westwood on the 3rd.
