Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fort Dale Academy walked away with it. They never let the Morgan Academy Senators get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Anna Claire Thomas made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Brinkley Long was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Natalie Skipper was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Fort Dale Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-14. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Morgan Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
