Football Recap: Rodriguez Takes a Loss

The matchup between Rodriguez and Pioneer on Friday hardly resembled the 12-7 effort from their previous meeting. The Mustangs fell 36-26 to the Patriots. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Rodriguez lost, don't look at Darian Charles. Despite the final result, he rushed for 179 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Charles' longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gideon Mayo, who picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown.

It was another big night for Joe Mendez, who rushed for 221 yards and one TD while picking up 8.2 yards per carry for Pioneer. Those 221 rushing yards gave Mendez a new career-high.

Rodriguez's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Pioneer, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Rodriguez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pioneer, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 40-27 defeat against Vanden on the 31st.
