Baseball Recap: Edgewood Academy Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Edgewood Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Ezekiel Academy Knights with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won four games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Colten Lashley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Edgewood Academy let Landon Smith and Cooper Freeman run wild. Smith scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Freeman scored two runs and stole Two bases. That's the most stolen bases Freeman has posted since back in April of 2024. Garrett Myers was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Edgewood Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .559 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Edgewood Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ezekiel Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
