Football Recap: Havelock Falls to West Craven in First Game of Season

Havelock unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 7-0 to the West Craven Eagles on Friday. Rams fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Friday.

Even if they lost, Havelock's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Christopher Bispham and DaQuarius Dunlap, who racked up all four sacks between them. Bispham has been hot for a while, having also posted five or more total tackles the last 13 times he's played. Havelock got some further help from Michael Gatling: he made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Coming up, Havelock is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against New Bern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Craven, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wilson Prep at 7:00 p.m.
