Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Dakota

Dakota waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Clarkston Wolves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-7 on Monday.

Maddie Guthrie spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kiley Phelan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Gianna Mangone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Dakota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Dakota's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Clarkston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Dakota will square off against Grosse Pointe North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clarkston, they will challenge Stoney Creek at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Wolves their first taste of in-conference action this season.
