Volleyball Game Preview: San Dieguito Academy Mustangs vs. Escondido Cougars

The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will take on the Escondido Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (San Dieguito Academy has three straight wins, Escondido has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, San Dieguito Academy made easy work of Mt. Carmel and carried off a 3-0 victory.

San Dieguito Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Mt. Carmel between 15 and 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-18, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Escondido suffered their biggest defeat since February 26th on Friday. They lost 3-0 to Coronado.

While Escondido was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-16.

Escondido's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for San Dieguito Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.

San Dieguito Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Escondido in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 2-0. Will San Dieguito Academy repeat their success, or does Escondido has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
