Preview: Patterson Institute Lions vs. Fort Hancock Mustangs
The Patterson Institute Lions's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Fort Hancock Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. Patterson Institute comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Two weeks ago, Patterson Institute was the victim of a rough 45-19 loss at the hands of Parkland.
Even though Fort Hancock has not done well against Tornillo recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fort Hancock had just enough and edged Tornillo out 42-39.
Fort Hancock got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emmanuel Herrera out in front who scored 17 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. The match was Herrera's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Patrick Hernandez, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals.
Ysleta's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Patterson Institute's loss dropped theirs to 0-3.
Patterson Institute came up short against Fort Hancock when the teams last played back in January, falling 53-44. Can Patterson Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
