Volleyball Recap: Antioch's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Antioch had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They came out on top against the Waukegan Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. For the Sequoits, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Antioch never let Waukegan on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-22.

Leading Antioch to victory were Ethan Espinoza and Angel Anguiano. Espinoza had seven digs and three aces, while Anguiano had nine digs. Those nine digs gave Anguiano a new career-high. Hunter Williams also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Antioch pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Waukegan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season.

Antioch will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Warren Township at 7:00 a.m. As for Waukegan, they will take on Cristo Rey St. Martin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
