Softball Game Preview: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Southwood Knights

The Wes-Del Warriors will take on the Southwood Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Wes-Del is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Wes-Del's offense. They lost 10-0 to Shenandoah on Saturday. The Warriors have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Southwood's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Adams Central.

Izzy Ashba was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Wes-Del's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Southwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

Southwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wes-Del has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Southwood, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Wes-Del's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.

Wes-Del came out on top in a nail-biter against Southwood in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 15-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
