Basketball Recap: Bunn Comes Up Short

Bunn lost against Rocky Mount back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Bunn Wildcats lost 73-53 to the Rocky Mount Gryphons. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 423rd, while the Gryphons are ranked 172nd).

Despite the loss, Bunn still got an impressive performance from Isaac Bailey, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Josiah Rice was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Rocky Mount was led to victory by Brelyn Moses and Anthony Jones. Moses went 11 for 19 on his way to 23 points and five boards, while Jones went 7 of 8 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Harris, who posted seven points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Bunn and nudges their season record down to 8-12. As for Rocky Mount, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Bunn will take on Nash Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bunn is facing Nash Central at the right time seeing as Nash Central is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Rocky Mount, they will face off against Southern Nash at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rocky Mount's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matches.
