Baseball Game Preview: Boonville Pirates vs. Harrisonville Wildcats

The Boonville Pirates will face off against the Harrisonville Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Boonville comes in on six and Harrisonville on three.

While Boonville's win against Osage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Indians 2-1. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.

Nine must be Harrisonville's lucky number: they beat Lincoln College Prep with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Blue Tigers by a score of 9-5.

Ryan Goss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Goss was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Hall, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Colby Henderson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Harrisonville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln College Prep struck out eight times.

Boonville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Harrisonville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Boonville was able to grind out a solid win over Harrisonville when the teams last played back in April of 2016, winning 4-1. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
