Softball Game Preview: Austin Packers vs. Mayo Spartans

The Austin Packers will head out on the road to challenge the Mayo Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Austin fell victim to Century and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 7-0 to the Panthers. The Packers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Mayo didn't have quite enough to beat Winona on Tuesday and fell 6-5.

Mayo's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Austin came out on top in a nail-biter against Mayo when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Packers repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
