Baseball Game Preview: Fox Chapel Foxes vs. Armstrong River Hawks

The Fox Chapel Foxes are taking a road trip to square off against the Armstrong River Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fox Chapel came up short against Shaler Area on Tuesday, falling 11-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Foxes in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost six in a row.

Jeremy Haigh made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Meanwhile, Armstrong unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 12-5 to Beaver on Wednesday.

Brayden Wright was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Fox Chapel's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Armstrong, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Fox Chapel was able to grind out a solid win over Armstrong in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fox Chapel since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
