Basketball Recap: Ripon Christian Knights vs. Escalon Cougars

The Ripon Christian Knights waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 56-48 win over Escalon. For Ripon Christian, this counts as revenge for the 64-62 loss the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Ripon Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Vander Veen, who scored 18 points. Vander Veen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Luke Crivello was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Ripon Christian pushed their record up to 17-6 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Escalon, their loss dropped their record down to 19-5.

Ripon Christian will head out on the road to face off against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Livingston is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Escalon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ripon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Cougars like a good challenge.
