Softball Preview: Oak Park-River Forest Huskies vs. Leyden Eagles
The Oak Park-River Forest Huskies will take on the Leyden Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Leyden will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Oak Park-River Forest extended their winning streak to four on Friday. Everything went the Huskies' way against Cary-Grove as they made off with a 15-7 win.
Zoe Daly looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Oak Park-River Forest got a massive performance out of Julia Henderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Godellas, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Oak Park-River Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cary-Grove only posted a batting average of .208.
Meanwhile, Leyden made easy work of Highland Park on Friday and carried off a 17-3 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Giants recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The victory got Leyden back to even at 8-8. As for Oak Park-River Forest, their win bumped their record up to 20-7.
