Recap: Blair Bears vs. Mercy Monarchs
The Blair Bears had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Mercy 65-23 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-11.
Blair's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gueryn Kay, who scored 17 points. Joslyn Policky was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
When it comes to explaining why Mercy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reagan Brekel. Despite the final result, she scored 10 points along with 5 steals.
Blair's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Mercy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Blair will head out on the road to face off against Ralston at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mercy, they will be playing at home against Plattsmouth at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
