Preview: Jefferson-Morgan Rockets vs. California Trojans
The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets will head out on the road to square off against the California Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jefferson-Morgan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Jefferson-Morgan pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Monessen by a score of 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Jefferson-Morgan has suffered against the Greyhounds since January 29, 2021.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jase Bedilion, who scored 15 points along with seven steals. Huston Guesman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, California scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mapletown by a score of 77-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
California's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vincent Manzella, who scored 31 points along with five assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Manzella has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Noah Neil, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.
Jefferson-Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for California, their victory bumped their record up to 5-13.
Jefferson-Morgan was able to grind out a solid victory over the Trojans in their previous meeting back in January, winning 54-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jefferson-Morgan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
