Pine was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 2A District 8. Earlier in the week, the Raiders triumphed over Mt. Hermon 45-8.
Pine took down the Yellowjackets 45-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
5-foot-11 quarterback Derrick Dillion of Bradley Seal's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 385. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Springfield's Gharmaine Ashton has rushed for 401 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Dane Landry. The Northlake Christian star has seven catches for 162 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Pope John Paul II. At the moment, Springfield is in first, while the Jaguars are in fourth.
Northlake Christian and Ellender played the most hotly contested game in 2A District 8 this week, with Northlake Christian eventually emerging with a 36-32 victory.
