Recap: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Lewis-Palmer Rangers
The Palmer Ridge Bears pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-58 to Lewis-Palmer. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Palmer Ridge in their matchups with Lewis-Palmer: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Palmer Ridge still got an impressive performance from Jimmer Weir, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Weir hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Mason Kay, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Lewis-Palmer was led to victory by Damarion Jelks and Cohen Edmondson. Jelks scored 21 points, while Edmondson scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Edmondson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nate Johnson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Palmer Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Lewis-Palmer, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
Palmer Ridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Air Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Air Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday. As for Lewis-Palmer, they will head out on the road to challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran is coming into the match hot, having won their last 12 games.
