The Eastlake Titans will take on the Canyon Hills Rattlers in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Eastlake 2.6, Canyon Hills 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Eastlake beats Canyon Hills with ten runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Titans blew past Brawley 10-1 on Thursday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Addison Suriano looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Olshenskie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Deziree Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Eastlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Canyon Hills never let their opponents score on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Mission Bay 2-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Rattlers, who have now won four games in a row.
Natalye Debus made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Debus was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Debus wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ariah Washington, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Canyon Hills pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Eastlake, their record is now 11-4-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Eastlake hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Canyon Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
