Baseball Recap: Colfax Comes Up Short

Colfax extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 10-12-1. They lost 14-1 to the Wheatland Pirates. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 21, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Colfax saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Arteaga, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Wheatland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Wheatland, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Wheatland's side, Kale Nakamura was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave Nakamura a new career-high. Hughston Rodney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Colfax will challenge Oakmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wheatland, they will take on East Nicolaus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
