Basketball Game Preview: Haleyville Lions vs. Hamilton Aggies

Haleyville and Hamilton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Haleyville Lions will face off against the Hamilton Aggies at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Haleyville came up short against Carbon Hill on Friday, falling 68-48. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 122nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). They breezed by Lamar County to the tune of 97-51 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Haleyville's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Hamilton, their win bumped their record up to 9-16.

Haleyville couldn't quite finish off Hamilton in their previous matchup back in January and fell 55-52. Can Haleyville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
