Basketball Recap: Heartland Lutheran's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to Ansley/Litchfield the last time they met, Heartland Lutheran decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 25-23 win over the Ansley/Litchfield Spartans on Friday.

Heartland Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ella Francl, who posted two points along with eight boards, six assists, and three steals. The dominant performance gave Francl a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ema Marie Koch, who earned nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Ansley/Litchfield lost, don't look at Kerry M Ryan. Despite the final result, she had four points along with 15 boards and five steals. With that strong performance, M Ryan is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Asia Lyon was another key player, putting up five points along with eight boards and three steals.

Heartland Lutheran's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heartland Lutheran will head out to challenge Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ansley/Litchfield, they will head out to square off against Fullerton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ansley/Litchfield is facing Fullerton at the right time seeing as Fullerton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
