Softball Recap: Hollins Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Hollins lost to St. Petersburg back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Hollins Royals had just enough and edged out the St. Petersburg Green Devils 11-10.

Shayla Query spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and nine unearned) runs on 13 hits.

At the plate, Paige Westerfield was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Vargas, who scored a run and stole three bases.

Hollins' victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hollins will square off against Indian Rocks Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Petersburg, they will challenge Osceola at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
