Basketball Game Preview: Rockingham County Cougars vs. Northeast Guilford Rams

Rockingham County hasn't had much luck against Northeast Guilford recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rockingham County Cougars will take on the Northeast Guilford Rams at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Rockingham County challenged Dudley on Friday. Rockingham County lost to Dudley at home by a 75-61 margin. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Panthers are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Northeast Guilford took their match on Friday with ease, bagging an 83-50 victory over Atkins. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Northeast Guilford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Rockingham County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.

Rockingham County couldn't quite finish off Northeast Guilford in their previous meeting on Wednesday and fell 67-64. Can Rockingham County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
