Preview: Austin Achieve Polar Bears vs. Wimberley Texans

Austin Achieve is 0-3 against Wimberley since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Austin Achieve Polar Bears will look to defend their home field against the Wimberley Texans at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Austin Achieve has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Wimberley will arrive with nine straight wins.

Austin Achieve fell victim to Navarro's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Panthers 63-0. While losing is never fun, Austin Achieve can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while Navarro is ranked 308th).

Meanwhile, Wimberley earned a 34-22 victory over Lago Vista on Friday. Wimberley pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Lago Vista cut but never quite recovered from.

Cody Stoever continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 179 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 106 yards and a touchdown.

Austin Achieve's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Wimberley, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0.

Austin Achieve took a serious blow against Wimberley in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 66-0. Thankfully for Austin Achieve, Dane Hennessee (who threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns on only seven passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
