Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Makes It 15 in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Summit Academy had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Math Science & Engineering 41-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Summit Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amerie Santana out in front who posted 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Santana is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games she's played. Skyla Lawrence was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten boards and five steals.

Summit Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Summit Academy pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Math Science & Engineering, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Summit Academy will face off against Success Academy of Liberal Arts at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Summit Academy's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Success Academy of Liberal Arts' offense will have their work cut out for them. Math Science & Engineering does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
