Softball Recap: Mayville Takes a Loss

Ubly hit Mayville with a seven-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 13-2 to the Bearcats. The Wildcats have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Emma Fryers spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Mayville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Trzil, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Addyson Jacobs also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Mayville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Ubly, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Mayville will take on Peck at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ubly, they will face off against Capac at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
