Soccer Game Preview: Appleton West vs. Winneconne

The Appleton West Terrors are taking a road trip to square off against the Winneconne Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Appleton West's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 13 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Appleton West is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Fond du Lac on Tuesday. The Terrors fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Winneconne kept a clean sheet against Green Bay East on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 9-0 victory. Winneconne might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Green Bay East from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Harper Neace led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

The win made it two in a row for Winneconne and bumps their season record up to 16-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two matches. As for Appleton West, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-3.

Appleton West came up short against Winneconne when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 2-0. Can the Terrors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
