Softball Game Recap: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Copper Hills Grizzlies

Corner Canyon extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Copper Hills Grizzlies, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in March.

As for Copper Hills, they now have a winning record of 10-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

For Copper Hills' part, Bryton Dawes made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dawes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Dulce-Liliani Moreno was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Clarissa Hotton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Corner Canyon will venture away from home to square off against Kearns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Copper Hills, they will welcome Mountain Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight.
