Preview: Onalaska Wildcats vs. Groveton Indians
Onalaska is 3-0 against Groveton since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Onalaska Wildcats are on the road again and play against the Groveton Indians at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. Onalaska knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Groveton likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Onalaska didn't have too much trouble with Woden on the road as they won 71-54. Given Onalaska's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while Woden is ranked 1004th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Dante Leleux, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. Lucas Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 7 assists and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Groveton suffered a rough 54-33 defeat at the hands of Robinson on Friday. Groveton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Orangefield's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Onalaska's loss dropped theirs to 4-4.
Onalaska strolled past Groveton in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 77-62. The rematch might be a little tougher for Onalaska since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
